Have you installed a program in Windows 11 that you no longer use and want to completely remove? In most cases, uninstallation takes only a few seconds, but simply removing the application from the list of programs does not always mean that all associated files have disappeared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To uninstall a program in Windows 11, go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps, <\/strong>find the application, click on the three dots next to it, and select Uninstall.<\/strong> For older programs, you can also use Control Panel > Programs and Features<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you want to remove any remaining files as well, there are a few additional checks you can do without necessarily installing a special uninstallation program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to uninstall a program in Windows 11<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The simplest method is the one available directly in the Settings app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 1: Open Settings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Press the Windows + I<\/strong> keys simultaneously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alternatively, open the Start<\/strong> menu and select Settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2: Go to Installed apps<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

From the Settings menu, select:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will see the list of applications and programs installed on your computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 3: Find the program in Windows 11<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

You can scroll through the list or use the search field to find the application you want to remove more quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Click the button with three dots<\/strong> next to the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 4: Select Uninstall<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Select Uninstall<\/strong> and confirm the operation if Windows prompts you to do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Depending on the application, it may start its own uninstallation program. Follow the displayed instructions until the end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Important:<\/strong> do not close the uninstallation process before it is completed. Some programs remove multiple components, services, or drivers during this operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to quickly uninstall a program from the Start menu<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There is also a faster method if you already know which application you want to remove.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  2. Type the name of the program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Right-click on the application.<\/li>\n\n\n\n

    Depending on the type of application, Windows 11 may open Settings or its own uninstallation program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This method is useful when you want to quickly remove an application without manually searching through the complete list of installed programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    How to uninstall a program in Windows 11 using Control Panel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    If the program does not appear in the Installed apps<\/strong> list, it does not necessarily mean it cannot be uninstalled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Older desktop applications may use the traditional Programs and Features<\/strong> system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The quickest way to open it is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Press Windows + R<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Type appwiz.cpl<\/code>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Press Enter<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n

      This method is particularly useful for classic programs installed via .exe<\/strong> or .msi<\/a><\/strong> files.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      How to delete remaining files after uninstallation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      This is where the difference between uninstalling a program<\/strong> and what many users call a \u201ccomplete uninstallation\u201d comes into play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      An uninstaller may remove the main application, but some programs may leave behind configuration files, cache, logs, or other data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Before manually deleting any folder, it is important to check that it indeed belongs to the application you have uninstalled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Check the Program Files folder<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      You can check C:Program Files<\/strong> and C:Program Files (x86)<\/strong>. Look for a folder that bears the name of the program or the manufacturer. Do not delete folders you are not sure belong to the uninstalled application.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Check AppData<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      Some applications keep settings and data in the user profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      To quickly open the relevant folder, press: Windows + R \u2192<\/strong> %AppData%<\/strong> \u2192 Enter<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      You can also check Windows + R \u2192<\/strong> %LocalAppData%<\/strong> \u2192 Enter<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Look for folders associated with the application you have removed. These directories may contain settings, cache, or other application data. If you are unsure what a certain folder represents, it is better not to delete it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Do you need to manually delete all remaining files?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      No.<\/strong> It is a common mistake to assume that a computer needs to be \u201ccleaned\u201d manually after each uninstallation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      If the program was uninstalled correctly, small remaining files usually do not pose a problem for Windows 11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
