Microsoft is preparing two significant changes for the Windows ecosystem in 2026. These are: the update of Secure Boot<\/strong> certificates, and the introduction of a new performance optimization system in Windows 11. Together, the two updates aim to enhance both security and the responsiveness of the operating system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For users, the outcome will be visible through automatic updates, possible additional restarts, and a faster experience in opening applications and the Windows interface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Windows Secure Boot enters a new phase after 15 years<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Microsoft has confirmed that the original Secure Boot<\/strong> certificates, introduced in 2011, will start to expire in 2026 and need to be replaced. Secure Boot is one of the fundamental security mechanisms of Windows, verifying software from the system’s startup phase to prevent the loading of malicious code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company is already distributing the new certificates through monthly Windows Update. Users who purchased PCs in the last approximately two years are likely already protected, while older systems will receive the update progressively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the visible consequences for users is the occurrence of a one-time additional restart<\/strong> during the installation of updates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Microsoft explains that certain systems may perform one more restart after installing the Secure Boot<\/a> update, behavior considered normal and necessary for applying the new certificates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the Windows Security application will display new indicators regarding the status of the certificates, including warnings for devices that require intervention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Windows 11 LLP promises better performance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Alongside the security changes, Microsoft is working on improving the performance of Windows 11 through a feature called Low Latency Profile (LLP)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This works by temporarily increasing the processor frequency for one to three seconds when the user opens applications, the Start menu, or certain elements of the interface. The goal is to reduce the feeling of lag and increase system responsiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
